On December 18-19, 2023, GoScholar (our Goducate scholars) embarked on a heartwarming mission to spread joy and compassion during the holiday season through their 'Carolling for a Cause', a two-day online event aimed at raising funds for a meaningful cause.
Carolling, a cherished Filipino Christmas tradition, usually involves children singing outside homes in exchange for coins and treats. However, these scholars adapted the tradition to the digital age by singing carols online, leveraging technology to connect with supporters. Their goal was to bring the essence of Christmas to a local orphanage in Laguna.
Through their heartfelt performances and dedication, the team raised some 10,000 pesos over the two days, and the next day they distributed gifts.
During the gift-giving event, the scholars engaged the youngsters with joyful singing and entertaining games, creating much laughter and delight. The team also provided delicious food. Together, the shared meals and laughter formed bonds of camaraderie and warmth that transcended the boundaries of circumstance. The whole event served as a poignant reminder that the true meaning of Christmas lies in spreading love, kindness, and joy to others, and that there are always opportunities to initiate change and brighten someone's day during the holiday season.
