At GoFeed Philippines, our mission goes beyond providing meals---it is about empowering communities through education. Our feeding program is designed not just to nourish children’s bodies but also to foster their minds, creating a holistic approach to child development. As of October 2024, our 51 GoFeed centers serve 1650 children, thanks to a team of over 500 volunteers. Among them, 400 are local mothers, with 90 stepping into teaching roles, inspired by the impact they see in their communities.
These mothers are more than volunteers; they are change-makers. Through our feeding program, they actively engage in children's education using materials from APIIS-Goducate Academy. Each session is supported by video lessons and worksheets, allowing mothers to guide children's learning. This approach ensures that they nourish not just children's bodies but also their minds, providing hope and inspiration for the future.
At GoFeed Philippines, we celebrate these amazing mothers who are committed to making a lasting impact on children’s lives. Regardless of their formal education or backgrounds, these women are an unstoppable force, driven by their faithful, available, and teachable hearts.
During a typical feeding week, these mothers teach children two to three times, reinforcing the lessons learned in each session. This support is crucial in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted education for many children. The supplemental education provided at GoFeed centers helps bridge learning gaps while empowering parents to engage in their children’s education.
The impact of GoFeed is seen not only in the lives of the children but also in the personal journeys of the mothers who contribute their time and talents.
Nanay Emma exemplifies the commitment of these mothers. As a solo parent and an elementary school graduate, she defies educational barriers, proving that dedication knows no limits. Beyond teaching, she provides emotional support and encouragement to both children and families. Emma recognizes the urgent need for educational support in her community and is motivated to help children develop literacy skills.
Her efforts have inspired other mothers to get involved, demonstrating that one dedicated individual can spark positive change. By inviting fellow parents to volunteer at the feeding center, Emma creates a community of support. Her determination to see children healthy and happy fuels her passion for teaching, making her a true champion for education.
Nanay Andrea offers a different yet equally inspiring story. With a long-held dream of becoming a teacher, she never had the opportunity for formal education. However, her involvement with GoFeed has allowed her to fulfill this dream in a meaningful way. As a volunteer, Andrea uses her passion for teaching to benefit the program's beneficiaries. She remains firm in her mission, stating, "My goal is simple: I want the children to learn from me, even if it's just a little, and to see them healthy and happy."
GoFeed’s mission is to reach thousands of communities through our feeding program. While we continue to provide essential meals, we also empower parents to become educators for their children. Our goal is to enhance learning opportunities alongside nutritional support, helping parents actively engage in their children's education. With each lesson taught, we are making meaningful progress in bridging the educational gap within our community, ensuring every child has the chance to thrive.
