Typhoon Rai (known as Odette in Philippines) is the 15th typhoon to hit the Philippines in 2021. This powerful and catastrophic tropical cyclone struck the Philippines over the third week of December. As of December 29, the Department of Social Welfare and Development reported that a total of 1.4 million families or 5.4 million individuals had been affected by Typhoon Rai in 7017 barangays (villages) in Regions V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, Mimaropa, and Caraga.
Every day, there were people sleeping along the road, asking for help for their basic needs such as food, water, and medicine. Several areas had no electricity or means of communicating electronically with others. Many Goducate staff had their homes badly affected. The pictures show the homes of some affected Goducate workers. These pictures were sent by those in areas who were able to send information electronically. Goducate has raised some funds to help those affected, and relief operations are already being carried out.
